Survived

DSCN0369I would have taken photos, if the cuddler had let go of my neck for a second, but he never did.

He was all excited until I was putting our clothing into the locker. Then, he decided that he didn’t want to go swimming. So, professional parent that I am, I tricked him. I told he we wouldn’t go swimming, I just wanted to talk to a friend. That got us to the water’s edge. (it’s a walk-in pool)

Luckily, there was a bin of toys next the edge. That got him into the water for about five seconds up to his ankles. He really does like to play with water!

After about three minutes, I was able to convince him to take the mammoth swimming. He got wet up to his shoulders, although it was iffy at times. He did the back floating for a whole minute (in the fetal position), but all in all, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. The circle singing time – Lala’s favorite – was a total bust. Hated it.

We’ll see what happens next time. We will skip next week because of a doctor’s appointment (on a Saturday! I’m loving this specialist already), so next time may be a repeat.

Best part? I like this class time because it’s too early for anyone I know to see me in my suit. This morning I walked in to see my boss sitting in the bleachers. His son is in the class, and apparently I will now forever been in the videos of his swim lessons… in my bathing suit. Yay.

2 Talk To Me!:

Ginny

Hey, thanks so much for the well wishes on my blog. It is much appreciated.

And, Daniel was that way about water for a long time. I had to trick him to the bath the first 6 months he was home. It was bad. He is over it now though but still not crazy about the deep end of any body of water.

Jenna

He likes to play in the bath, but hates getting his face wet... deeper water would be a definite risk of that!
My brother was the same and did eventually learn to swim. But at 40, he still doesn't like to get his face wet. :)
